Facial Acupuncture: Natural Anti-Aging Solution

Facial Rejuvenation Cosmetic Acupuncture

Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture is not only a great way to improve your looks. It can also improve your overall well-being and vitality. The health, physical, emotional, psychological and inner well-being are all expressed in the face. Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture softens deep wrinkles, tones skin, improves muscle tone, enhances overall appearance and vitality.

What is Facial Rejuvenation Cosmetic Acupuncture?

Facial Rejuvenation Cosmetic Acupuncture is an extension of traditional acupuncture. Fine needles are placed in specific points in the face. This improves the flow of energy or Qi and reduces signs of aging.

It is also called cosmetic acupuncture, Acu facial, facial enhancement, or an acupuncture facelift. It is a popular form of acupuncture that focuses on the face, neck, and hairline. Unlike injection procedures, facial acupuncture addresses not only signs of aging, but also the skin’s overall health. Treatments will focus on points and muscles of the face. This will improve the elasticity of your skin and general overall appearance.

It is widely held that the Chinese Empress, and the Emperor’s concubines, as far back as the Song Dynasty (960-1279AD) received acupuncture to aid rejuvenation and specifically promote anti-aging. (Soulie De Morant, G. 1878-1955, p.12)

What to expect during the treatments?

During the treatment, your practitioner will gently insert 10 to 50 thin needles into specific points on your face. They will also needle constitutional points on your legs, arms and body; these are the points that will help to balance and harmonise your overall body energy.

Needling is typically painless and needles remain in the skin for 25 to 30 minutes. You’ll be left to relax in the room, with low lighting and soothing music. Many people meditate or close their eyes during this time.

At the end of the session the needles are removed and discarded.

How does it work?

Facial acupuncture or micro-needling involves puncturing the skin with thin needles to create tiny wounds or micro injuries. This rouse the body’s healing response, increasing blood and lymph flow, and boosts the delivery of oxygen and nutrients to the injured site. These ‘positive micro injuries’ stimulates the release of chemicals that reduce swelling and fibroblast cells, producing collagen and elastin. A protein that aids in strengthening skin cells; collagen strengthens the skin and adds resilience. Elastin adds flexibility to the skin and helps loose skin to retain its shape.

How fast are results and how many treatments I would need?

Results aren’t as dramatic as those you’d see from other skin procedures, like botox or chemical peels or even microneedling.

One treatment will bring visible improvement but it might not last. A study published in 2013 showed that participants had an increase in skin elasticity after five treatments. You’ll need multiple treatments over time to see results. We would recommend 10 treatments once or twice a week to see optimum results. After that, you can go into what we call a “maintenance stage,” where you get the treatment every four to eight weeks.

With that in mind we have created packages that include discounts for initial consultation and 6 or 10 treatments.

Is it safe?

Acupuncture is considered a safe, painless procedure. Everyone experiences pain or sensation differently, but most patients say that acupuncture needles don’t hurt. You could feel a slight pinch upon insertion, and while needles are in place, you could feel tingling or numbing in the area. If you feel any pain, let your practitioner know immediately so they can adjust the needle.

With an experienced, licensed acupuncturist, you’re less likely to bruise, but even the best practitioner has seen light bruising in the delicate eye area. Bruising often heals quite quickly and should last only a few days.

To avoid bruising and to achieve the best results, the person receiving the treatment should be in good health for maximum healing capabilities. This is why people with bleeding disorders or uncontrolled type 2 diabetes shouldn’t seek this treatment.
