My name is Ilze Black, I am a licenced Tui Na practitioner and the founder of TCM practice..
I practice traditional Chinese medicine that is grounded in thorough diagnostic techniques and treats both the root courses and the presenting symptoms of ill health. The holistic approach, at the core of TCM, enables me to provide you with the best possible and uniquely tailored personalised treatment plan. My mission is to support my patients on their journey back to their optimal physical health and mental well being..
I was first introduced to TCM about 20 years ago when I discovered Shaolin Chi Gong that I still practice daily. Chi Gong, or the practice of ‘internal alchemy, is one of the 4 pillars or branches of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Chi Gong daily practice has supported me greatly over the years while I was working as a curator and producer or when researching for my PhD in Arts and Media Technologies. But things changed when I became a mum. The Mothering Journey is one of the best things one can experience but it also can deplete us or shift our balance. I became extremely tired both mentally and physically, could not concentrate and experienced pains I never knew before. My GP could only help with prescribed pain killers. This is when I walked into a Tui Na clinic and met Sarah Pritchard, who is the foremost Tui Na practitioner in Britain and also now my teacher. Tui Na saved me and restored my balance..
This experience eventually led me to become a TuiNa practitioner. I simply love the experience of Tui Na, both in giving and receiving. You can read more about benefits and methods of TuiNa here. My practise combines Tui Na, fire cupping, Gua Sha, the use of Moxa and Auricular (ear) acupuncture. I am also a qualified Reiki practitioner. I am particularly passionate about Yin Tui Na and its application for chronic conditions, women’s health, pregnancy, post-natal and maternal support contexts. Currently I am studying acupuncture, the third branch of TCM and you can see me in a truly affordable student clinic in Old Street.
