I had acupuncture at TCM with Ilze Black and she was thorough, professional and it was an all round healing experience. I have a recurring issue with my lower back locking up and within 2 days of her treatment I was back in th game (it normally takes a week or 2).I’ve had a few treatments with other people with less success so I don’t hesitate in recommending a treatment with her.

Acupuncturists use subtle diagnostic techniques, such as taking the pulse and observing the tongue, that have been developed and refined for thousands of years. Treatment involves the insertion of very fine needles into specific points on the body to regulate the flow of ‘qi’ along pathways in the body known as ‘meridians’. Qi has been described as life-force, vitality or energy. The traditional theory describes Qi flowing around the body along the meridians. In the traditional theory illness can be described in terms of deficiency of Qi, excess of Qi, or blockage of Qi within the meridian (jingluo) and organ (zangfu) system. Acupuncture seeks to move the Qi within this system to tonify deficiency, reduce excess and clear blockages, or in other words balance the body’s energetic system.

We frequently forget that ancient wisdom found in acupuncture is accumulated over three millennia, whereas modern science has a history of less than three centuries. But you would be mistaken to think that acupuncture is primitive
